Zhu Ting is is a Chinese professional volleyball player born on November 29, 1994, in Henan Province, China She began playing volleyball at 11 years old. By the time she was just 14, she had already joined the Henan provincial team. In 2012, she made the Chinese national team and was a rising star.
Throughout her career, Zhu Ting has won many awards. She helped China win the 2013 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix and the 2014 Asian Games, In 2016, she led the Chinese women's volleyball team to their first gold medal in women's volleyball since the 2004 Athens Olympics. Her performance in Rio was amazing because she earned herself the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the best outside hitter awards.
Zhu Ting played for the Turkish club VakifBank Istanbul from 2016 to 2018, during which time she helped the team win numerous titles and while becoming one of the top players in the world.
In her first season with VakifBank Istanbul, Zhu Ting led the team to win the Turkish League, the Turkish Cup, and the Champions League. She was named the Champions League Final Four MVP after scoring 25 points in the final match against Pomi Casalmaggiore. Zhu Ting's powerful spikes, excellent defense, and strong leadership skills were critical to VakifBank Istanbul's success that season.
Zhu Ting played a key role for VakifBank Istanbul the following season, helping the team win the Turkish Super Cup, the Turkish Cup, and the Champions League again. In the Champions League final against Imoco Volley Conegliano, Zhu Ting scored 18 points to lead VakifBank Istanbul to victory. She was twice named the MVP of the tournament (two years straight), becoming the first player to achieve this feat since the tournament's inception in 2001.
During her time with VakifBank Istanbul, Zhu Ting was notably as one of the best players in the world. She received numerous individual awards, including the Turkish League MVP, the Turkish Cup MVP, and the Champions League Best Outside Spiker. Her success with VakifBank Istanbul helped cement her status as a volleyball superstar and set the stage for even more success with the Chinese national team and her current club, Tianjin Bohai Bank Volleyball Club.
The 2017-2018 season belonged to Vakifbank, as they swept all the championship titles. And guess who was a key player in that success? None other than Zhu Ting, who became the only volleyball player in the world to achieve championship titles and MVP awards in club competitions of all levels - national, regional, and world.
Zhu Ting's success didn't end there, as she renewed her contract with VakıfBank in June, marking her third season with the club. In July, she returned to the Chinese National team as a core player and helped lead them to a bronze medal at the 2018 Nations League, earning herself the Best Outside Spiker award.
But Zhu Ting wasn't done yet. In September, she made her debut at the Jakarta Asian Games, where the Chinese team dominated the competition and won the gold medal without losing a single set. From September to October, Zhu Ting helped get the Chinese team a bronze medal in the FIVB World Championship and was once again awarded the Best Outside Spiker award, making it her second time receiving the award at the World Championship.
In December, Zhu Ting competed in the Club World Championship held in Zhejiang, China. With the support of her fellow countrymen, she led Vakifbank to a resounding victory, defeating two Brazilian clubs in the Semifinals and Finals. And it's no surprise that Zhu Ting was named the tournament MVP and Best Outside Spiker yet again.
